The 1960's in the UK saw Davies envision a computing future beyond Batch Processing. He thought of the Mark I and II, based on INTERACTIVE COMPUTING .
The GPO were inspired by the small prototypes that Davies made himself, even though they were limited in scope based on funding. The GPO decides to invest in "interactive computing."
Once packet switching was established a few years later, Davies sought to streamline communication between humans and machines. He did this by creating an early technology that would translate spoken english to code, thus allowing humans to speak commands to machines. This technology was called "artificial intelligence voice recognition."
From there, then began the revolution of voice recognition software: suddenly typing became obsolete. Thus, the interactive network computing that emerged as a result of packet switching became artificial intelligence out of need.
